Central New York Artist Database

A project funded by The Division of the Humanities and the Upstate Institute at Colgate University

With the goal of putting regional artists in contact with gallery owners, art directors, and curators, this website will provide a database of visual artists from nine counties in Central New York. Currently, this website is home to a directory of art venues that cater to contemporary regional artists. The venues are subdivided by Organizations, Galleries, Events, and Residencies.

In November, the artist database will be posted, which—in an interim phase— will include the name, discipline, contact information, and images for each artist. After January, the website will undergo changes and provide a more interactive browsing experience for the visitor.

Data for this website was compiled by Ashley Lazevnick, ’10 Colgate University. For more information or to be included in the website, contact alazevnick@students.colgate.edu.

Colorscape draws an estimated 15,000 people from throughout the Northeast each year. Over 80 juried artists from throughout the eastern U.S. exhibit, sold and demonstrated their work. Many artists return year after year, but there is always something new and different as well.  Activities at Colorscape include Music Workshops at the East Park Childrens' Stage, Student Art Exhibit, Competitive Poetry Slam, Craft Demonstrations, Hands-on Arts Projects for families in two Art Zones with a variety of other creative opportunities throughout the parks. Colorscape also features a non-stop line-up of acoustic music arranged by the Night Eagle Cafe.
