Chenango Summer
Music Fest
The
Chenango Summer Music Fest presents chamber
music concerts for strings, winds and piano
by internationally acclaimed classic and
popular musicians in the village of
Hamilton. The festival includes the
ever-popular Village Day that showcases
Hamilton with music, food and events for all
ages.
Daniel Prial, Summer 2005
Daniel Prial, '07, spent the summer working
on two local festivals: the Chenango Summer
Music Fest, organized by the Colgate Music
Department, and the Hamilton Music Mix,
organized by the Partnership for Community
Development. In addition to working on the
organization and logistics of each festival,
Prial researched other music festivals in
order to understand how these two festivals
could be improved. He surveyed residents and
visitors to Hamilton to gauge the economic
and cultural impact of each festival on the
local community.
Prial said, “My work on the Chenango Summer MusicFest through the Upstate Institute has
been one of the most rewarding activities of
my time at Colgate. Not only am I learning
directly about the community I’m living in,
but I’m exposing myself to a side of arts
administration that is completely new to
me.”
