Chenango Nursery School

Chenango Nursery School strives to enhance the complete growth of each child by providing a wide range of traditional and innovative learning approaches in a safe, caring and nurturing environment. CNS is a cooperative nursery school, and a corporation owned and operated by the parents of children attending the school. A board of parents and community members establishes school policies and programs. Parental involvement is essential to the success of the school. CNS is located next to Hamilton Central School in Hamilton.

In the summer of 2007, Sarah Lee, '08, conducted a cost analysis for the school and researched employment compensation and benefits at comparable early childhood programs. She also developed a fundraising plan and prepared grant applications for the non-profit organization.

Kristin Birchard, '05,worked with the board members and teachers of Chenango Nursery School in order to enhance students' educational experiences.  They shared ideas about what improvements need to be made and how to implement new programs and curriculums.  Their goals included establishing new music and arts programs, organizing cultural activities, and strengthening the learning that occurs within the classroom.  Birchard was responsible for researching grants and writing proposals that will make these programs possible.  She also provided outside educational research that will help maximize the experience for all teachers and students at CNS.
