Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida
Counties, Inc.
The mission of the Foundation is to improve
the lives of the residents of Herkimer and
Oneida counties. In order to carry out this
mission, the Foundation
-
identifies, analyzes and addresses the
needs of the community as they exist,
emerge and merit assistance
-
builds a pool of charitable capital,
preserving and enhancing the funds
placed in its trust
-
raises the capacity of nonprofit
organizations to serve the community
through its grant making and other
supportive actions
-
develops a greater regional sense of
community by promoting diversity and
encouraging shared responsibility for
community improvement.
-
assists donors by providing knowledge,
methods and opportunities for advancing
a wide range of important charitable
interests.
The Community Foundation has published a
book which documents their organization's history.
In the summer of 2007, Kyla Dzwilewski, '08,
created a
plan and implementation strategy for the
short and long term goals of the
organization's website, and created web
content from material included in the book.
She helped the organization add more
content on philanthropy, changes to relevant
legislation, and subject area knowledge in
order to help them address the educational
and informational needs of foundation donors
more effectively.
This summer, Swetha Peteru, '08, will
help the Community Foundation pair with the
United Way to create a capacity building
program for regional non-profit
organizations.
