Resource Center for Independent Living
The Resource Center for Independent Living (RCIL)
promotes a dynamic environment where society
and the individual mutually benefit from a
world with no limits. This is accomplished
by promoting and achieving excellence in
consumer controlled self-directed services
in: programs, education, advocacy, research,
and information retrieval and dissemination.
Through over 100 programs and services, RCIL
offers assistance to people with all types
of disabilities, including cognitive,
physical, mental and sensory disabilities.
This summer, Carly Turro, '09, is working on
a quality study of the programs offered
through the agency. She is beginning by
researching how RCIL programs work, who is
being served, what is being provided, and
how people benefit. She will then identify
what constitutes quality and how that can be
measured. Finally, she will research similar
programs in the community and bring best
practices and suggestions back to RCIL.

In the summer of 2007,
Matt Inbusch, '08, worked with RCIL on a
foundation grants research project. He
developed a database of public and private
foundations in order to identify potential
funding sources. His research will allow the
agency to have easy access to resources and
will result in increased fund raising
ability.
