As the Special Projects Student Fellow, Darcy Richardson spent the summer working with a variety of different organizations. She was involved with strategic planning at the Chenango Canal Association and the Madison County Department of Health and also helped with some of the weekly Upstate Field School meetings.   Darcy’s primary focus was on projects for the Hamilton Business Alliance and the Madison County Industrial Development Agency.  She worked with the IDA to write “good news stories” about successful manufacturing businesses in Madison County. The goal was for the stories to receive statewide and national coverage in order to encourage business growth in the region. 

For the HBA, Darcy worked on informing visitors who come to Colgate during the summer of the businesses, restaurants, and summer events that can be found in the Hamilton area.  Her project also concluded development of an online registry that will connect local businesses to Colgate students, parents, alumni, and faculty.
